Terms of Use
Terms v1.0 (10 August 2026)
These terms are the same ones shown in the app on first launch. Installing or using Waves means you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install or use Waves.
1.What Waves is
Waves is free, open-source software that helps you save music for offline listening from a TIDAL account you already hold, using your own credentials. It is a personal, non-commercial tool. It is provided at no cost, with no paid tier, and it is licensed to you under the GNU AGPL-3.0. Where these terms and the AGPL-3.0 conflict, the AGPL-3.0 governs your rights in the software itself.
Waves can only save what your account can already play: it cannot reach anything the account cannot reach, it does not remove or bypass any encryption or copy protection, and it is not a way around a subscription. If TIDAL will not serve a stream to your account, Waves cannot save it.
2.No affiliation with TIDAL
Waves is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to TIDAL or its owners in any way. TIDAL and any related marks are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to identify the service Waves works with. No claim to those marks is made or implied.
3.Your responsibilities
By using Waves, you agree that:
- You will use it only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes.
- You will use it only with content you are authorized to access, through an account you legitimately hold.
- You will not use it to infringe copyright, or to reproduce, distribute, share, sell, or otherwise pirate any content. Respect the rights of artists and rights-holders.
- You will not use it to circumvent payment for, or restrictions on, any service.
- You are responsible for complying with all laws that apply to you, which vary by country and which you, not the developer, are in a position to know.
- You are of legal age to enter into these terms in your jurisdiction.
4.Third-party terms and your account
Your use of Waves may violate TIDAL's Terms of Service. You accept that risk and any consequence it may carry, including suspension or termination of your TIDAL account. The developer has no relationship with TIDAL, no ability to influence such a decision, and no responsibility for it.
5.No warranty
Waves is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. The entire risk as to the quality and performance of the software is with you. See sections 15 and 16 of the AGPL-3.0.
6.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the developer and contributors of Waves shall not be liable for any damages of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, consequential or punitive damages, loss of data, loss of profits, or damage to your device, accounts or files, arising out of or in connection with the software or its use, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities. Where that is the case, the above applies to the maximum extent the law permits, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
7.Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the developer and contributors of Waves from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of Waves, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party.
8.No monitoring, and what that means
Waves collects no information about you or your use of it. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no accounts on the developer's side, and nothing is reported back. The developer therefore has no way of knowing how any installation of Waves is used.
This is a deliberate privacy design, not a disclaimer of responsibility. Anyone using Waves to infringe copyright does so in breach of these terms and without the developer's knowledge, consent or encouragement. Waves is not designed, marketed or intended for infringing use, and any such use is expressly prohibited.
9.Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated. Each version is dated and numbered, and the current version is always the one published on this page and shown in the app. Continuing to use Waves after a change means you accept the updated terms.
10.Severability
If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
11.Contact
Waves is maintained by iamprivacy. The project is reached through GitHub issues.
Please respect the artists and rights-holders whose work this plays.
